The resultant parkland layout - 7,385 yards - is once again celebrated in South Africa and beyond, and its spectacular holes will be remembered for a long time to come by fortunate Fancourt visitors. Outeniqua Course The Outeniqua takes its name from the dramatic mountain range that guards over the Fancourt estate, and was also conceived by Gary Player. Its character is similar to the neighbouring Montagu layout, with immaculate fairways and greens carved through the rugged dunes and expanses of water that characterise the landscape. Bramble Hill Course The newly established Bramble Hill course shares six holes with the golf academy, but plans are afoot to extend it to a full layout. The public course was established to serve the needs of the George community, and although it does not have the flair or extravagance of its country club neighbours, it has great potential, and is ideal for beginners and learners. With a name like that, some background is called for: the plantation was owned in its prime by Annee Palmer, who was supposedly a woman of great allure, intrigue and distinctive beauty. However, legend has it that she also dispensed with the services of three unsatisfactory husbands in the most definitive way! The course's designers, Robert von Hagge and Rick Baril, personally named their creation The White Witch, as they believed their distinctive and beautiful creation was a fitting testimony to the estate's most murderous inhabitant. Indeed, the 6,589 yard championship golf course is an awe-inspiring test - great changes in elevation and fascinating design are always evident around the White Witch. Opened in 2000, the course was named the best in the Caribbean by Conde Nast Traveller in 2004. A select band of golf courses inspires that unique first tee excitement - the panoramic views of the Caribbean and the 200-foot drop to the fairway will live long in the memory of those lucky enough to experience the White Witch during a golf escape in Jamaica.

Ernie Els was blessed with a special parcel of Mauritian land on which to build the immaculate Anahita Golf Course, providing visiting players with a unique challenge, and views of the surrounding mountains or the idyllic lagoon. Spectacular rocky outcrops combine with beautiful indigenous trees to create a sublime setting for championship golf, and the Anahita course is a true delight. Since its inception in 1981, the PGA National Resort has been a mecca for avid golfers, epitomizing the outstanding tradition of resort golf in Florida, and now boasts five championship courses. Champion Course The Champion Course is the backbone of PGA National's outstanding golfing heritage, originally designed by Tom Fazio and subsequently reworked by Jack Nicklaus in 1990. A top class tournament venue, the Champion played host to the 1983 Ryder Cup matches and the 1987 PGA Championship, while it is now the annual home of the US Tour's Honda Classic. The treacherous closing holes have been dubbed ‘The Bear Trap', and are among the most difficult in the state. Haig Course The Haig Course was the first to be completed at the PGA National Resort, and was designed by Tom Fazio. The main challenge around the 6,806 yard layout comes from Fazio's strategic position of his water hazards, demanding a combination of both power and accuracy. Water comes into play on 15 holes at the Haig, which was named after the legendary Walter Hagen, an unprecedented winner in golf's early years. General Course The General Course was designed by Arnold Palmer, whose aggressive attitude towards playing the game is reflected in his creation at PGA National. The fairways are forgiving and the greens large, but with the prevalence of huge water hazards, attacking play comes with considerable risks. The best hole is the daunting par 5 last, which is a real all or nothing test. Squire Course The Squire is the shortest of PGA National's layouts, and its creator Tom Fazio has described it as a ‘thinking man's golf course'. Many of the holes have dog-leg fairways, often demanding conservative club selection from the tee to find prime position. Wildlife is abundant around the Squire, whose name is derived from the nickname of the legendary Gene Sarazen, and the course is truly worthy of his legacy. Estate Course The Estate Course is PGA National's fifth, and is located a couple of miles outside the boundaries of the resort. Amid the verdant Florida landscape, the Estate offers a distinctly different experience to its siblings, but is well worth visiting during your golf holiday pilgrimage to Florida.

Gloria is at the forefront of the spectacular emergence of Belek as a golfing hot spot, largely due to its two championship courses, while it also boasts a nine-hole layout. Old Course For Gloria's Old Course, a local Turkish construction team worked in consultation with international experts to realise the design of French architect Michel Gayon. The result is a 6,759 yard gem, whose Bermuda fairways and greens, which surround some 7 lakes, have recently been reworked to improve their condition. New Course The New Course is characterised by the four large lakes that it encircles, and its testing tree-lined fairways. Completed in 2005, the course has done much to ease traffic on the Old, and is itself an excellent test of golf, stretching to 6,889 yards from the championship tees. Also designed by Frenchman Gayon, the New Course affords terrific views of the Taurus mountains, and adds another string to Gloria's bow. Gloria Verde Course The resort also has a great nine-hole course, called the Gloria Verde. Lying adjacent to the Old Course, the Gloria Verde has been built with two separate sets of tees for each green, to give the feel of a genuine 18-hole layout. The peace and quiet of the short course makes it great for beginners, or just if you fancy a relaxing stroll.
